Sometimes I wonder if our family will ever have hope on being vegetarians. The husband is a big meat eater. The few times I attempted to have us eat a once a week all veggie diet, he went out of sorts and cranky. He gets hungry easily when he does not consume meat.

It is a huge task that a lone ranger will not possibly surpass. But here I am hoping and waiting still that the husband will have a change of heart. There are a few things I was able to successfully eliminate from our home. Like the toxic substances that we practically grew up with. It begins with comparing products. You then get the picture of what you are actually getting. If ingredients sounds phony, chances are they are. These free radicals, if they won’t immediately harm you, chances are these toxic substances will get back at you in the long haul.

Supplements. It is something I tried to incorporate in our diet that I am thankful that my husband is slowly getting accustomed to. This is the best that I can do for now. Because as of writing, I notice that whenever we eat out, the tiny portions of veggie pieces beside the steaks and porks are always left untouched. As for my son, he actually loves veggies more than meat. But steaks he has learned to crave for from time to time.

I know I have been slacking and even as I was intending to go see him last year because of the worsening back pain I felt when I was still doing 3 virtual assistant jobs then. I had to keep myself sane and healthy. So I did which was but inevitable. Outsource.

Outsourcing was the best thing I have ever done since I started working from home. It can be done. Given a reliable remote secretary and a good and constant job coming in. I am looking into seeing a chiropractor soon. I have time for it now. But I might need to see someone else who lives close by. I hope to find someone who is good at what he does and is duly certified and have finished chiropractic technologist program. Just to be sure that I am in good hands.

There is no place I really would rather be. It has been a great week at camp and my family and I are looking forward to our Davao getaway this coming week. While that means I will have to do as much work as I can while I’m still in Manila, there is just no way I can finish them all before we fly for Davao.

One thing for sure these dark circles under eyes are becoming more prominent by the day and have got to be taken cared of soon. Will probably make use of some cucumber slices or the Clinique under eye treatment cream that is sitting on my dresser.

It has been an amazing week once again at Youth Camp this week. If there is anything I will never tire of witnessing, it is the people who come to Christ in repentance and accepting Him as their personal Lord and Savior. Life is more than just the here and now. We might as well invest our time and resources in that. It’s a practical thing to do, if we come to think about it.

But since the harvest is plenty but the workers are few, ministers have the tendency to tire themselves out. Delegation and balance should be practiced even in the ministry and to be good stewards of our health too. Maybe learn moren about multivitamins just so we will be effective as we do our tasks will help as well.

We got home today from the hospital from an unexpected confinement of the hubby. It was last week when he went to Banker Aircon Repair shop along Soliven in Marikina when we noticed he came home with several bed bug (surot) bites in his lower extremities. He sat on a wood type bench. A few days in and we saw what looks like an adult-acne on his left hip. Little did we know that it was going to be the cause of his first ever hospitalization.

We decided to have him admitted in Marikina Valley Medical Center since it is closer to where we live. We got there for admission at 11:30am and got into our room at 3:30pm. And when we got discharged this morning, we had our papers processed at 8am and was only able to leave at 11:40am. Totally defeated the purpose of why we chose the hospital in the first place. I am not sure how they go about their business there. The people are courteous and polite. We especially commend the nurse who took care of my husband. Her name is Mides. She really is dedicated to her job and does her job well. But the lack of blanket, the absence of intercom, even broken function of the bed to have it elevated are all not her fault. To think we thought Marikina Valley Medical Center was a decent hospital. Clearly, Ospital ng Makati was even a better hospital. I was admitted there twice and I did not have those facility problems I have had with Marikina Valley Medical Center.

Needless to say, we will stay away from Marikina Valley Medical Center if we can at all help it.

When Asian Tropics offered their RF procedure for 88% off or so some weeks ago, I immediately availed of it.

As easy as it is to convince my son into things healthy, it is as hard for me to convince the hubby. Take for instance, shifting from white bread to whole wheat. It only took me five minutes tops to explain to my son why it is healthier for us to eat whole wheat bread than white bread. And from then on whenever we go to the supermarket for our weekly grocery shopping, it is the whole wheat bread that he looks for.

So far, I only find a few brands of whole wheat bread that are acceptable to our palates – Herran and another brand that I forgot. I love Herran’s Jumbo whole wheat loaf. It is only around P85. As for the hubby, I’m gonna have to shower this concern with more prayers and less on getting him convinced on healthy eating and even natural diuretics. I hope he gets encouraged how our son has gleefully shifted to eating healthier.

My husband and I were not at the peak health last month. Not at all the perfect way to start the year, decade, if you may. But God is good. We are doing a lot better now. Thank God that we remembered to take Fern-C. The antibiotics we were given more than a couple of weeks back proved to be of no effect. We even got worse as days went by. We got the bug from our son, whose colds, cough and fever only lasted 4 days. But we’re in it for weeks on end. I still have cough and colds. But not as bad anymore as the previous weeks.

Health is really wealth. We thank God that our bodies are responding positively to Fern-C that we started taking again last Thursday. We are now busy with our daily grind. Homeschool, home, ministry, online job and planning for our house renovation. We initially planned for the house renovation to happen late this year or early next year. But God’s favor continues to abound and His grace is overflowing. We are seeing that happening second quarter of this year, if not first. There really is no way we can outgive God. Even as we decide to give Him our all and take control of our resource, He enables us to see far more than our nearsighted eyes could.

Although our neighbor a.k.a. folks are willing to adopt us as the second storey is being constructed, we figured it just would not do. Our furniture and stuff are enough to crowd and mess their house to inconvenience them as it is. Bringing in four individuals to their place will just be too much. So we will probably have to rent a place (furnished) for a couple of months while the construction is ongoing. As for the house plan, we have two of my girls in church who are now licensed civil engineer and architect from our going to work on our interior. I’m not sure if it will be better to keep the ceiling fans on the ground floor, have a complete makeover or whatnot. The thought can be overwhelming. But we are really excited about this project.

Why the expansion, you ask? After getting struck with Ondoy in 2009, rains in this part of the city easily cause flooding even if there is no storm. We also need the extra space. You can just imagine how we are going about our homeschool class in one corner of our current 48sqm space. An office is also one of the things we are going to dedicate a room for. Truth be told, we do not have a decent living area in our house. Our living room serves as our living, homeschool, office area.

We continue to thank God for His hand upon our family. We are currently also praying for our church to be able to afford a place of our own even as the building administrator of our current location has bailed on having to fix the broken roof. Can you imagine our church being flooded inside whenever it rains?! It gets worse every time. God is pointing us to nowhere but out of the place. May the Lord lead us to our next location.
