Typhoon Ondoy’s Aftermath

4

It was around 8PM last Saturday when our family evacuated to the neighbor’s second floor.  The flood quickly rose up to the height of an average person’s.  These are the pictures the hubby showed me when he came to visit the house the morning after the height of the flood.  I knew it was going to be a wild sight, I didn’t brave it. The pictures were enough for my stomach to churn. We’re blessed enough that my weekend helper who just reported for work the day before to do her weekly job was available to clean up.   I don’t know what I would have done without her.

It wasn’t until last night did we know for sure what appliance worked and what did not.  By far, the fridge is still working all right. It helped a lot that when it went a float and fell on the floor, the hubby was there. It was probably adrenalin that got him to carry the fridge singlehandedly. We were able to save the LCD as my hubby, BIL carried it to the second level of the double deck.  The major thing we need most, the washer is now dead.  I was fervently praying that it would still work for us to be able to wash bags upon bags of wet clothes.

We’ve been cleaning up since Sunday.  Today is the fourth day of cleaning and we still aren’t half done yet.  I cannot get myself to eat properly, the stress is making it hard for me to swallow food.  At the rate my food intake is going, it looks like I’m on a diet pill or something.

We’re praying for strength, comfort and God’s provision not just for us but for the rest of the people who were affected by the rage of typhoon Ondoy.

I’m so sorry you’re having to endure this ordeal. It looks like quite a mess, thankfully you were able to get yourselves to safety.

it is very unfortunate for our Filipino brothers to be hit by typhoon Ondoy. i have seen the massive flooding and the flood victims on TV and it is really horrible.
