A Neighborhood Fire
Yesterday was an eventful day for us. It took me back to the time when I witnessed a fire eating up four houses and an AUV across the street where our family used to rent in Makati. The fire happened in one of the houses behind ours, the street parallel to ours. The fire started from a cooking gas that exploded and the lone person in the house was a househelper.
It came to a point that my son got teary eyed, knowing what was happening, he told me, “Mama, I’m so afraid that the fire will reach our house.” During that time we have been hearing the fire trucks’ sirens and the black smoke has definitely reached us, causing our eyes to tear. I immediately led him in prayer for the Lord to give us peace and Jed prayed that the firemen will be able to let the fire die. Getting your house on fire is so much worse than getting your house broken into and getting even your loose diamonds stolen.
This is something to keep in mind for us to mind our household and make sure that our cooking tanks are safe. We got a word after an hour that the fire is under control, even as we saw the smoke getting lighter from its pitch black color.
